James Morrison hasn’t been around long but he’s almost cemented himself as an established rising star in the music scene.
However his latest single from the number one album Disturbed, hasn’t managed to scale the heights of his previous top ten hits – but this is probably because it got swamped by the Christmas traffic.
This is not to say it’s a lesser track. In fact The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore is another beautiful ballad which is arguably his best yet due to the combination of his melodic yet husky vocals with a powerful crescendo part way through.
It’s a truly emotive track which causes you reflect on your past and could even bring a tear to the eye if the listener is over sensitive while you can also imagine it being used in future films and dramas which tells the story of heartbreak in love .
Lyrically this song is a little sickly but at least you feel it’s an earnest attempt to communicate through music, which is an art lost in so much of modern-day music.
