Has a song title ever been so apt?
New Ideas, one half of the Dykeenies double A-side debut release, is just that – brilliantly original and fresh as it smashes out relentless guitar chords to complement their fantastic vocals and snappy chorus.This energetic five-piece from Glasgow only formed last year and undoubtedly have the talent to rise to the top in meteoritic fashion.
The lyrics ‘I’ve got so many new ideas’ are repeated in a way to hammer home the fact they’re here to stay and dazzle the country’s music fans with their overflowing enthusiasm to belt out storming pop-rock sounds.
But just when you thought it couldn’t get anymore exciting, the second track, Will It Happen Tonight, is even better.
Slightly darker but every bit as lively, the absorbing chorus will leave you bouncing long into the night as the band unremittingly pounds out yet another killer tune.
New Ideas/Will It Happen Tonight is unbelievably good for a debut release and if it doesn’t spark a lot of interest, I for one will be surprised.Gigs
