No Love in Your Hearts - The Earlies Single Review

Single Review

The Earlies are certainly an acquired taste and unless you’re a big fan, this double-A side single will take some listening to before it grows on you.

This innovative band are perhaps much more distinctive on the live stage for their original and textured sounds rather than in the home.

Sure their unique style has won them a lot of high praise in the past but it just seems too much like an experiment for me.

In ‘No Love in Your Hearts’ they mix a peaceful violin solo with electric sounding vibes all topped off with Beach Boys-esq vocals, albeit slightly darker.

It all comes together to create a rather random and unusual track, but of course this is what makes them so appealing and refreshing to many listeners.

Breaking Point brings together a relentless strumming of a sound you could describe as futuristic far eastern while there are hints of the noises whales and dolphins make under water.

Overall this track, which is the first instalment of a series of releases which will all be taken from their second album The Enemy Chorus, is unlike anything else you’ll hear but it’s hit or miss whether you’ll like it.
