Somebody Told Me - The Killers Single Review

Single Review
With a name like The Killers, a portrayal of angry yells and stage dives comes to mind. However when this number is played, it comes as a surprise to hear, that frontman Brandon Flowers and his four-piece band, are more eighties synth pop influenced, mixed with the latest "art rock"craze, brought to us by Franz Ferdinand amongst others.
"Somebody Told Me," the follow-up to debut single "Mr. Brightside," musically oozes personality and passionate angst right from the start, as the track comes complete with tight pounding rhythms, and Depeche Mode or Human League style keyboards for synth pop fans.
Lyrically, there is an element of the Psychedelic Furs, and there is no need for indecipherable vocals designed to break the sound barrier here.
The Killers get their message across melodically whilst still granting the listener a chance to sing along, without requiring a powerful analgesic afterwards.
"Breaking my back just to know your name,
Seventeen tracks, and I've had it with this game"
All in all, the tracks' infectious intensity makes this a winner listen after listen.
"Somebody Told Me" is out March 15th on Lizard King Records.
