In a State - Unkle Album Review

Album Review
It has been a busy roller coaster ride for Unkle lately, with a new line up, and a new album this year. The CD is said to be an emotional piece of sorrow, but beautifully orchestrated. If follow up single "In A State" is to set the standard for what features on the album, this is a perfect reflection. New member Richard File has teamed up with long time Unkle member, and personal friend, James Lavelle, to form the new Unkle. Making his debut not on the machines, but vocally, may be a surprising decision, but proves to be a successful one. "In A State" is a sad offering full of woeful personality, intensified with File's striking daze like falsettos. The track opens with an aesthetic acoustic guitar, which merges into a trance like backing beat. The concept lures the listener through a ethereal journey full of emotions. As the tune ends, it is as though someone has clicked their fingers to bring you round. A beautiful record indeed, and one showing a promising future for the new line up. File features on other album offerings, where you can also sample his work on the music side of things. The duo's personalities and social influences feature greatly to produce a moving single.
"In a State" is released November 3rd, and Album "Never Never Land" is out now, on Island/Mo Wax Records.
