DVD Review

Jumbled-up concert snippets neatly married together(from three previous DVD's) in celebration of her mass appeal:and no doubt a pension booster. This comes as the visual companion to her All The Best compilation CD from the end of 2004.She's been off the road for a few years now,so it's good to see the soul shouter at her' live' best.Taking clips from venues in Holland and the UK(along with unspecified venues),it shows the evolution of TT from a struggling ex-pop star to a world phenomenon.Struggling to re-establish herself after an acrimonious split from ex-hubbie Ike Turner, she fought tooth and nail to get back on track. She supported The Rolling Stones,Rod Stewart and Lionel Richie in the mid-70's,eventually bouncing back with a truly defining rock-soul album Private Dancer in 1984.

Here,we get a eyeful of those famous pegs as she shimmies relentlessly across the stage. It's big presentation, big wigs and rasping vocals.By definition, naturally it's all about the biggies that graced the air waves for almost 30 years which made her one of the most popular live acts of all time.Of the huge tracklisting, there are many memorable moments, but the real highlights include:a raucous duet with Bryan Adams as the two rough-necks slog it out,an intimate dance with David Bowie during Tonight(as Bowie is accosted by a fan)and a sensual opening to Goldeneye,as she's revealed on a podium. She tackles I Don't Wanna Fight with high emotion,as tears well-up.

During a lengthy interview, she reflects on her career, and specific songs with fondness, saying:

Listening to all the mixes, they feel now, they feel current.I'm very proud to listen to them and to know that I'm giving this work out, because it represents a part of my life from the past all the way until now. It's a piece I can be proud of.
