Single Review

Following last year's smash hit, Is This The Way To Amarillo? penned by Neil Sedaka, the same tune gets revamped lyrics by football fans Ian Stringer, a football commentator and Big George Webley, credited with music for Have I Got News For You and The Office. They got the demo played by BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles, who said,

Trust me when I tell you this will go round in your head.

Stringer added,

.. our song connects with the terraces, it is about the passion and desire of England competing in - and winning - the World Cup.

Co-writer George said,

If it wasn't for SportsAid we might not have seen the likes of Freddie Flintoff, Kelly Holmes and Steve Redgrave. That's why we're giving everything to SportsAid.

Tony Christie loved the reworking and jumped at the chance to record it and even if the words are predictably terrace orientated, its well worth supporting.

All proceeds received by Ian and George will go to SportsAid.
