I Want You to Stay - Maximo Park Single Review

Single Review
The flamboyant Geordies slow down a little and take in the scenery in this poignant offering that illuminates Paul Smith’s soulful and yearning vocals, as the guys lament the leaving of a loved one. The usually throbbing and cantering bass line, shudders and tags along slowly to facilitate the evocation of the thoughtful and almost melancholic tone.
Maximo Park have demonstrated on previous singles taken from their Mercury Prize nominated debut album; A Certain Trigger’ that they can energise music with the power of a Duracell long life battery. However, this time they decide to go for the power of feeling rather than guitars. This quintet is an earnest outfit who put a great deal of thought and feeling into everything they undertake.
