First Love - The Maccabees Single Review

Single Review
Mood mixing spacey indie builds upon the dawdling Mark Morriss wrestling with Luke Pritchard flavoured vocals of Orlando Weeks, to filter in a longing and refreshing perspective on affairs of the heart; “It’s Only Love”. Weeks’ perfects the Monday afternoon in the Butcher’s Arms wisdom, as the spindling instrumentals shows a band playing within themselves for the most part, before the gears are pushed up a notch to emphasize the street wisdom that is being espoused. Ranging rhythm is the key to this single, with the cushioning bass of Rubert Jarvis turning the wheels for the musical journeying. The Maccabees manage to add energy to justify the reflective interludes and keeps you with them throughout.
