101 - Albert Hammond Jr Single Review

Single Review
The Strokes guitarist continues to paddle in the muddy waters of hazy indie/country/blues, as he unleashes his second single from his fuzzy and foraging debut album, ‘Yours To Keep’. The album features guest vocalists including Julian Casablancas and Ben Kweller, but Hammond JR chooses an offering that features his country/blues coated stroll in order to build upon his growing profile. His aching, yet comforting style grows out from a typically roving The Strokes style instrumental, mainly the sound that littered their 3rd album ‘First Impressions of Earth’. A winding guitar outro adds to the desperation that creeps into the vocals and, if The Strokes can capture this on their fourth album, then it could be ‘Is This It?’ all over again.
