Daddy Long Legs

  • Daddy Long Legs are a London three-piece who make wonky and joyfully noisy pop music which has been described as "an engagingly clever mix of mathrock, quirky blues and post-punk". If that sounds confusing, don't worry, they don't know what it means either. You should know that Daddy Long Legs pretty much punches genres hard in the face. Despite the confusion over what to call the noises they make, over the last two years Daddy Long Legs have gained a reputation for face-melting live shows. A typical show is a half-hour, sweat-drenched, six-legged race through as many as a dozen skronk-pop gems featuring enthusiastic three part harmonies, dancing like a broken helicopter and lung-popping homage to Wesley Willis. Whether they're crying about kettles or smiling about frisbee, it's not hard to tell that they really do mean it.

Impressed (and occasionally frightened) live and demo reviewers have picked up on elements of Weezer, Biffy Clyro, Heavy Vegetable, Pinback, Captain Beefheart, XTC and even Ben Folds Five in DLL's sound. Two thirds of Daddy Long Legs weren't sure if they'd heard any XTC before and just nodded sagely.

Daddy Long Legs play eccentric pop songs with crankiness and playfulness, rock and blues flourishes and lots of twists. Lo-fi, high quality, maximum joy. This is pop.
