Award-winning musical version of the 1988 John Waters movie.
Music written by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman.
The plot concerns Tracy Turnblad, a girl who dreams of appearing on a TV dancing-show. She becomes an instant success and uses the show to integrate other cultures into the show, but comes under much pressure and up against many obstacles.
The 2013 touring production will feature Mark Benton (Waterloo Road, The Street, Northern Lights etc) as Edna Turnblad.
