Sharon Shannon is an Irish musician who plays accordion, fiddle, whistle and melodeon in a variety of styles such as folk, cajun and european.
Her name became associated with Scottish rock band The Waterboys after appearing on the 1989 set , 'Room To Roam'. Shortly after she went solo with a self-titled debut album in 1991.
She has sessioned and recorded with countless musicians including Nigel kennedy, Christy Moore, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, Hothouse Flowers, Steve Earle and the late Kirsty MacColl.
She won a Meteor Award in Ireland for the track 'Galway Girl' co-recorded with Irish songwriter Mundy in 2007. It was the most downloaded song of that year and has become something of a signature tune.
