US rap legend LL Cool J (AKA James Todd Smith III) has just signed a deal with American broadcaster CBS and Alchemy Entertainment to develop his own drama series. This is on the back of his recent appearances in films 'Any Given Sunday' and 'Last Holiday' as well as a guest appearance in US series 'In the House.

Recording since 1984, he one of the only rappers of his generation to maintain a successful recording career as well as his success as an actor - his closest peer being Ice Cube - the one time NWA rapper and actor. He is due to release the album 'Todd Smith Pt. 2' at the end of this year - which will be his last with the legendary Hip Hop record label Def Jam - an arrangement which has lasted 20 years and spawned many rap hits including the albums 'Radio', 'Bigger and Deffer' and 'Mama Said Knock you Out'.

He plays London's Brixton Academy on the 13th October - for which tickets are still available.
