Mercury Music Prize - album of the year - shortlist announced

The nominations for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize album of the year award has been announced. The shortlist for the UK/ Ireland's 'best album' includes the solo debut from Thom Yorke 'Eraser' - released last month, Muse's 'Black Holes and Revelations' - released 2 weeks back, and bookies favourites the Arctic Monkeys. The 2005 winner was Anthony and the Johnsons.
