Veteran English jazz musician and broadcaster Humphrey Lyttelton died yesterday after falling ill with an aortic aneurism a few weeks back. The well respected trumpet player and presenter of BBC radio 4’s ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ died following surgery, at the age of 86.
Not one to take it easy, “Humph” was gigging and broadcasting to the last, and was due to appear at this year’s Bournemouth Jazz festival in September and at 'All That Jazz' in Lacock Abbey alongside Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk. He was also presenting – until last month – ‘The Best of British Jazz’ on BBC Radio Two.
