Having been with the band ‘Simply Red’ since 1984, Mick Hucknall has finally stepped out on his own. He has just announced his UK and European tour dates to support the eagerly anticipated debut solo album ‘Tribute To Bobby’, released on 19th May.

The album, which has twelve quintessential Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland tracks, is a master class in soul, blues and R&B. It is also a tribute to one of Mick’s inspirations and music idols. Bland is a great influential African-American singer, who is an original member of The Beale Streeters and is sometimes referred to as the "Lion of the Blues". He is well known for the creation of mixing gospel with blues and R&B, along with artists such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Junior Parker. His classic numbers include ‘Farther Up The Road’, ‘Little Boy Blue’, ‘Cry Cry Cry’, ‘I Pity The Fool’ and ‘Turn On Your Love Light’.

On the album ‘Tribute to Bobby’, Mick’s compelling vocals emphasise the sentiment of each of the twelve cover songs, whilst adopting the songs and making them entirely his own. He breathes new life into the songs that will mesmerise old fans and catch the attention of new fans, too. Tracks for the album include ‘Stormy Monday Blues’, ‘Too Far Gone’, ‘Farther On Up The Road’ and ‘I Wouldn't Treat A Dog’.

You can catch Mick on his 'Tribute to Bobby' UK tour from 29th June through to 10th July. Tickets are now available.
