Versus Cancer is back for the third year running at the MEN Arena, Manchester. This charity concert was set up to help raise funds for cancer research and support groups, and raising awareness of the disease, both in the UK and around the world. It was set up by ex-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke and Nova Rehman back in 2005, and they raised £1/4 million from last year's concert, which had performances from the likes of Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, New Order and Ian Brown.

For this year's line, the bands announced so far are the phenomenal Fratelli's, legendary Manchester acts the Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets, and New York's finest the Fun Lovin' Criminals. More acts are also set to be announced later on, to make sure that this year gig is the event for both musical and medical history once again! Hopefully they should hit their £1 million this year.

The event will take place on 23rd February 2008, at 7.30pm. Tickets for the concert are now available for purchase.

And if that is not enough for you, you can also join the Versus Cancer Official Aftershow at Moho, Tibb Street, featuring - fittinglt enough - Danny McNamara's The Aftershow. The event will also feature Dodgy, Boy Kill Boy, Example and The Paddingtons with more acts and special guests to be announced. Tickets for the Aftershow are now on sale, costing £5.00 in advance and £8.00 on the door - that's if there is any space.
