Portishead announce tour dates and new album
News
Bristol-based electronic/ trip-hop band, Portishead have announced their UK tour dates for April 2008. You can catch them at Manchester Apollo, Hammersmith Apollo – London, The Corn Exchange – Edinburgh, City Hall – Wolverhampton and Brixton Academy - London.
The trio, led by singer Beth Gibbons, shot to frame with their debut album ‘Dummy’, which was released in 1994. The album was successful in both Europe and the US and won them the prestigious Mercury Music Prize in 1995. It was also listed in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003.
1997’s eponymous follow-up album was unable to match the commercial success of the debut album and the band members went off on solo pursuits for a few years afterwards. That was up until 2005 when the band revealed that they had started working on their third album.
Portishead are due to release their long awaited, imaginatively-titled new album ‘Third’ on 14th April. They have also announced that they will be headlining the second night of this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California on 26th April.
Tickets are available for the UK dates now.
