Proms goes Electric

The BBC is to stage an "Electric" version of the Proms this year to encompass rock and pop music, following on from the success of the more varied music in last year's "Proms in the Park" events.
The event will be staged in venues across London, including the Roundhouse, the Electric Ballroom, the Barfly and the Enterprise.
As well as gigs, the plan is for the event to include film screenings and include masterclasses - with some of the daytime events being free to the public.
The event - which the BBC hopes to have a varied flavour with 'interesting collaborations' is slated for 25-29 October.
This years Proms in the park - taking place at Hyde park on the 9th September includes Lionel Richie, Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu and British trumpeter Alison Balsom, with the orchestra being conducted by Carl Davis.
