The White Stripes cancel UK and US tour

The White Stripes have cancelled their UK and US tours - the UK leg of which was due to start this October.
The band have cited 'acute anxiety' for Meg White making it impossible for her to travel. They have posted the following message on their website:
The White Stripes sincerely apologise to their fans. We hate to let people down and are very sorry.
No new dates have yet been announced.
Refunds should be available from the point of purchase.
