Bit of a funky feel to today's ticket announcement, and it contains info on some of my favourite artists.

First up is the legendary Marcus Miller – a guy who has played on some of the best jazz, soul and funk albums over the past few decades – that’s including his own stellar releases. He shot to fame as a member of Miles Davis’ band – Bitches Brew – and later became his producer and has since been the bass player/ producer to everyone who's anyone in the jazz/ R n B/ funk/ good music world, including: Mariah Carey, George Benson, Maceo Parker, Chaka Khan, Elton John, Jean Michel Jarre, Joe Sample.. the list goes on and on.

Catch the man at the Jazz Café on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th November.

If you remember the 80s and you were into soul, you will surely – quite possibly the best UK soul act of the era – Loose Ends. Their 1985 album So Where are You? contained the hits Hanging on a String, Magic Touch and a cover of Bowie's Golden Years. They are playing the Jazz Café on Thursday 4th October.

US multi-Grammy-award-winning RnB singer Jill Scott is over on these fair shores this winter, with dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and three London dates.

Finally, Hammond-led UK jazz/ funk The James Taylor Quartet have just added a date at Exeter’s Phoenix Arts Centre on 2nd November to go along with their Manchester date in October.
