Sharon Osbourne's music manager dad dies
News
Sharon Osbourne’s dad, Don Arden died on Saturday 21st July, aged 81. The infamous music manager helped launch the careers of Gene Vincent, The Small Faces, Electric Light Orchestra and Black Sabbath.
"The Al Capone of Pop" whose real name was Harry Levy was known for his strong arm business tactics, which usually involved a heavy-or-two – a tactic which would later see him charged, but acquitted of kidnap.
He relocated to the states of the successes of the 70s and founded his own record label "Jet", employing son and daughter David and Sharon into the business. When Sharon married Ozzy Osbourne, Arden gave Sharon his recording contract as a wedding present, which later led to a row and court case when Sharon later tried to sign Ozzy to a different label.
The pair reconciled their differences 20 years later in 2001, with Arden even appearing on the Osbournes’ reality TV show.
