One of the finest blues bands ever (in my humble opinion) the Robert Cray Band finally release a live album Live From Across the Pond - and in case you haven't guessed, that means it was recorded over here in the UK.

The gigs took place in may this year across seven nights at the Royal Albert Hall, featuring band members Jim Pugh (keys), Karl Sevareid (bass) and Kevin Hayes (drums) and Mr Cray on vocals and guitar.

The double album was released at the end of November on the New West label, and features a fine selection of songs which cover the band's recording career, including Phone Booth,Bad Influence,Right Next Door, I was WarnedBack Door Slam and the poignant Twenty taken from the 2005 Grammy-nominated album of the same name.

The first two songs mentioned were covered very shortly after their release by blues legends Eric Clapton and Albert King. Twenty is one of my favourite Robert Cray numbers of the past few years - a touchingly, emotion-laden song about a US soldier in the Iraq war who starts to question why he is fighting the war.

The excellent video for the track - directed by Robert's wife Sue - can be viewed via the link on the right. It was filmed in collaboration with the "Eyes Wide Open" organisation who are campaigning against the current Iraq war.
