
Return of The Tube

One of Britain's most innovative music shows - Channel 4's the Tube - is back after a 19 year absence. This time it is online on Channel 4 Radio (www.channel4radio.com).
The show will be presented by Alex James, Emily Rose and Konnie Huq in Manchester in front of a live studio audience - supported by co-presenter Anthony H. Wilson. The show, which will be produced by UK 1 FM will feature a mix of new and unsigned acts.
The first show which goes out on 3rd November will feature New Order, Camera Obscura, Clinic and Eskimo - playing live in front of a studio audience at Blueprint Studios in Manchester. The first show will also feature a telephone interview with REM's Michael Stipe - conducted by Factor records' supremo Tony Wilson.
The theme tune has been recorded by "Freebass" the collective name for Peter Hook (New Order), Mani (Primal Scream) and Andy Rourke (Smiths).
Independent distributor Network has released the DVD of The Tube - The Best of Series One. The DVD is available as a two-disc set, and contains some of the programme's finest performances from some of the biggest and lesser-known bands of the Eighties pop, rock and alternative music scenes.
