Paris Hilton's debut album has been given a "makeover" by UK guerilla artist Banksy.

He managed to slip 500 modified copies of her album into 48 record shops all over England.

Banksy has established a name for himself by creating unique "street art" - almost always with a humourous/ political twist using spray paint/ stencils, including works on the Palestinian side of the recently erected wall in Israel with "holes" in the wall depicting a paradise on the other side.

The modified CDs - all of which have the correct barcode - feature new artwork with a few messages inside, including:

Every CD you buy puts me even further out of your league.
90% of success is just showing up
Every time someone asks me how I am I hesitate for a little too long

The gatefold sleeve contains these slogans as well as modified atrwork, featuring Paris topless and with the head of a dog (Chihuahua?), and the CD itself features work from an artist known only as DM, and features track titles such as:

The stunt could go either way for Paris, since sales for the CD have reportedly been slow, but all publicity is good publicity, eh?

It is expected that these "special editions" may now be worth a little money, and there is even now a request on ebay for a copy - current bid £261.00.

Update

The DM credited with creating the tracks on the Guerilla'd CD is none other than DJ Dangermouse from Gnarls Barkley.

Check the links to the right to view all of the photos and the video of how they did.

The amusing thing with the video is how the dude that places the CDs in the store is initially nervous and thumbles them, but later he seems to perfect the art... superb!

Check the Gnarls Barkley MySpace site for more info.
