loudQUIETloud - a film about the Pixies
News

The quirky American quartet formed of Frank Black (AKA Black Francis, AKA Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV), Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and Dave Lovering AKA "The Pixies" made quite an impact on the music scene when they appeared in the 80s. They managed to successfully brige the indie/ rock divide and went on to record some great music in the 80s and 90s, and then it all fell apart.
But, in 2004, against all the odds, they reformed to perform a successful World tour. Thinking it would be a good idea to film this momentous occasion, a film crew was hired to film back stage and on-stage performances, and caught the sparks flying as old problems came to the fore.
The Pixies are acknowledged by many bands as influencial, with Nirvana's Kurt cobain claiming that early-on they tried to emulate the Pixies and that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was one such attempt.
loudQUIETloud screens at festivals all over the WOrld and is coming to the Edinburgh festival this Friday (25th August).
Recently Francis announced there would be no new Pixies material after hitting a musical wall whilst trying to recreate the Pixies sound, and having (apparently) little support from the rest of the band, but they continue to tour.
loudQUIETloud is expected to be released on DVD in October.
