UK awards show the Brits is to be broadcast live for the first time since 1989 - when Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood treated us all to a personality and humour-devoid show with problems left, right and centre.

On the bright side, we may be treated to spontaneous moments such as 1996's show which featured Jarvis Cocker jumping on stage with Michael Jackson, and attempting to kick Jacko up the bum.

The show - in it's 27th year - will be at Earl's Court Exhibition centre and will go out on Valentine's day (February 14th) 2007. It will be broadcast live in the UK by ITV.

Some of the breaking acts mentioned for the 2007 show include: Lily Allen, James Morrison, Arctic Monkeys, Corinne Bailey Rae, Kooks, Shayne Ward, Journey South, Andy Abraham (those three presumably name-checked for ITV's benefit?), Sandi Thom, The Feeling and Dirty Pretty Things.

All proceeds from the event go to charity, including The BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology and Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy.
